MANILENYOS STAND WITH THE LUMADS

Manila’s top local officials – President Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada and Vice-Mayor Isko Moreno – lead the city’s show of support for the Lumads in calling for a stop to the violence perpetrated against indigenous tribes in Mindanao which has risen dramatically over the past months. The violent incidents have been concentrated in the provinces of Bukidnon, Davao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur, and include such acts as killings, arrests, and harassment. (Photo by Joel Santos)
