121 DRUG SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN MANILA

PRESS RELEASE.

Police Chief Superintendent Rolando Z. Nana, director of the Manila Police District, reported to Manila Mayor Joseph E. Estrada yesterday that 121 suspected drug offenders were arrested in the city during the month of April, 2015.

In his report, Chief Supt. Nana also said a total of 782.399 grams of shabu and 8.197 grams of marijuana valued by the Dangerous Drugs Board at P3,912,446 have been confiscated from the suspects.

"The Manila Police District has been actively supporting our campaign to make the City of Manila drug-free as much as possible. This will go a long way in maintaining peace and order in the city, and providing a peaceful atmosphere for business and trade," said Mayor Estrada.

According to Nana, the 121 arrested persons included 27 drug pushers and 94 drug users.

In his report, Nana said the Manila police conducted 24 buy bust operations and 63 regular searches, in the areas under Police Station 1 to 11. Biggest shabu haul were reported in Police Stations 9 and 2.

During the month, the police also filed 157 cases against the drug offenders, all violations of Republic Act 9165, such as selling, possession and use of dangerous drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
